Making Space have evolved massively from their origins as a small mental health charity to a leading UK provider of health and social care services. To coincide with their 35th anniversary and launch of their new strategic plan, the timing was perfect to update the organisations brand to reflect who they are today. To do this, it was vital to understand what Making Space means to the people most important to them. That’s why during 2016 we held focus groups with their employees, volunteers and service users to learn more. The feedback they gave was invaluable and assured us that updating their brand was essential.
Sunny Thinking subsequently created a new brand identity for Making Space that reflects them as caring, friendly, adaptable, diverse, fun, passionate and supportive. We designed a new logo that is inspired by a petal – a positive symbol of prosperity, growth and development. It is made-up of three different coloured petals, representing the diverse people they work with and support, and the variety of services they deliver. As the petals come together they create a heart. This represents how they are stronger for their diversity and at the heart of everything they do is their shared ambition of making a difference to people’s lives. As part of launching their new visual identity, we have created a ‘little brand book’ providing guidance for it’s application as well as design of a brand video, literature, website, promotions, signage, digital and email marketing, signage and merchandise.
